Message from Jenny's Parents

We, Barb and Phil, know of no better way to honor Jenny's memory than to help the neurologists and immunologists who continue to investigate the causes of her death. If you know of any cases of young people between the ages of 9 and 30 who have experienced weakening and/or prolonged paralysis, please send a note to this blog. We will forward the information to medical professionals who are investigating these cases. Please note that we are interested in all such cases, regardless of whether they are male or female, or possibly linked or not linked to the HPV vaccine.

My name is Karly, I am 21 years old, and I am experiencing paralysis in both legs and my left arm goes in and out. I have had the HPV shot to prevent Cervical Cancer. My great neighbor and friend put me in contact with you guys- she lost her neice to the effects of the shot. But I'm not suffering near as bad as the people I am reading about... Before now I just had seizures, a weird limp, extremely stuttered speech, and felt sick- a lot! But now I am just in a wheelchair and nothing else seems wrong other than I am constantly tired and feel really weak. I feel sick on and off but not like before if that makes sense. But yeah, so anyways- I was just commenting because it said to. Email me if you need more information. Thanks :-)

I just wanted to say that I'm really sorry about your loss. It makes me wish I'd tried harder to stop my friends from getting the vaccination, though thankfully they all seem to be alright. It would be really great if more people were aware of the dangers of innoculations... particularly with the swine flu one coming up. I might post a link to this on my blog.

My name is amber, everyone I know who has had this vaccine has been fine. I have had it and the only thing I experienced was a sore arm afterwords. I'm sorry for your loss but from working in the medical field and having seen many others who have taken this vaccine I know its safe. There are more problems with the flu and chickenpox vaccine. There has been no proof medically that these deaths are related to this vaccine. I would rather my friends get this vaccine and even my own daughter if I had one than get gential herpes or cervical Cancer. Again I am very sorry for your loss but I dissagree with you.

I just read your story via Mom-Logic. I am so sorry to hear about Jenny. Just from the title of the article I needed to read it. My daughter is nine and I know it's only a matter of time before that vaccine comes up during one of her check-ups. I've felt quite comfortable about it, I always figured it was because it was new and unknown. Now I have another reason to really think about whether or not to allow her to get the vaccine. It's scary. I'm glad you're able to share your story with the world as well as the type of person Jenny was. Shame on Merck and the whole conspiracy behind the drug companies not sharing information with doctors, the CDC, and the public. You know Jenny is back to playing soccer now, running around and free. :)

Hi. I also just read your story via MomLogic and am very sorry for your loss. My daughter experienced some of the same symptoms after her vaccines when she was 3 months old. She deteriorated for about a month, then she was hospitalized for a month and eventually regained strength--with no treatment. Dr's did not know what to do. Her full recovery took between 6 and 8 months. It was a horrifying ordeal, but she was lucky. You can read my blog post about it at http://blahbittyblahs.blogspot.com/2009/03/living-hell.html Again, I am so sorry for your loss. Please email me if needed. thereders@embarqmail.com

A 14 year old family friend has just been admitted to CHOP, experiencing muscle pain in both legs. She had her 2nd dose of the HPV vaccine two weeks ago on August 14th. If anyone can point me in the right direction of what doctor at CHOP she can contact while there, that would be great. I know there is one neurologist there to avoid, who works with Merck.
